VH1 has announced that American Idol champ Fantasia Barrino is joining its roster of celebrity reality TV stars. This is the first bit of good news for the R&B singer in a while; she last made headlines when it came out that one of her homes was up for foreclosure.

The show will follow Fantasia balancing her singing career while raising her daughter on her own. VH1 stated:
Fantasia has one of the most fascinating stories in show business, from her tough upbringing to her meteoric rise on the national scene thanks to American Idol. Her challenges from fame and her unwillingness to fail have combined to create a larger-than-life talent who appeals to music lovers around the world. So many people wanted to work with her on this, but Fantasia is now part of the VH1 family, and we're so happy to have her.

The show will debut next year. It won't be Fantasia's first project for the small screen; she starred in the Lifetime movie Life is Not a Fairy Tale, an autobiographical film
